Dr. Nicholas Kilkenny – Choirmaster & Director of Contemporary Music & Technology

Dr. Nicholas (Nick) Kilkenny is a performer, educator, and music director based in the Rochester area. After receiving his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music, he has served as a professor of voice at various universities, including the Crane School of Music, Houghton University, and currently at Nazareth University where he teaches undergraduate and graduate voice lessons, song and opera literature, and studio teaching. He’s received critical acclaim for his portrayal of over 40 operatic roles and over 50 concert soloist credits. Some of these include the title role in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Renato in Verdi’s Un ballo in Maschera, and Colline in Puccini’s La bohème. In the Spring of 2024, Nicholas made his second appearance at Carnegie Hall to sing the bass solos of Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore with the New England Symphonic Ensemble.

Nick has been the Assistant Director of Contemporary Music and Technology at St. James’ since 2022, and is thrilled to answer the call to be the choir director and take over as director of contemporary music & technology!
