A Letter from Mother Pilar, St. James’ Rector
Dear St. James’,
What a wonderful and blessed summer we have been able to enjoy together. I am quickly approaching two years at St. James’ and now that I am back in the rectory and our family feels like they have a sense of place again, I am energized to begin taking the many changes we have experienced in program and staffing over the past twelve months and help us grow into where God is calling us in this next phase of our journey. As I have gotten to know all of you and observe how we work together as the body of Christ, there has been a strong desire in conversation to find more time together as one body in both fellowship and worship. As we look towards the fall with this desire in mind, we are planning the following: We will be keeping our summer schedule for the program year.
Sundays will follow the schedule below:
7:30 a.m.- Spoken Rite I Eucharist
9-9:45 a.m.-Christian Education Hour (for adults and children)
10:00 a.m.- Rite II Eucharist with both traditional and contemporary music. This service will focus on intergenerational worship and ministry as well as combining the many talents of all our musicians.
11:15 a.m.-Coffee Hour led by the St. James’ Fellowship Guild
September 13th-Kick off Sunday
This will be our first service worshipping inside after a glorious summer by the lake. This will also be the first service of our program year, with Christian education and fellowship beginning this day. Our coffee hour at 11:15 will feature a ministry fair where you can speak to the leadership of our many ministries and sign up to learn more or get involved.
October 18th- Stewardship Sunday
Please mark your calendars for Stewardship Sunday. Given our recent finances and budget cuts, we will be having a transparent informational “mini meeting” (which will be followed by our annual meeting in February) to discuss all things finances. We will talk about our endowments, how withdrawals work from them and how they benefit our operating budget, our trends in annual giving (pledge income), and how our budget is built and what it looks like going into stewardship season. It is our hope that this transparency will help everyone stay informed and engaged with the needs of the parish.
Please mark your calendars with these important changes and events. Your presence helps us grow together and live into one vision as the baptized body of Christ at St. James’. I am blessed by all of you and am looking forward to the year ahead of us.
Yours in Christ, Mother Pilar
Programming runs Fall (September 14, 2025) through the Spring (Mother’s Day, May 10, 2026).
Mini-Saints Sunday School is held at 8:30a.m. in thelower level. And & Saints in Training Sunday School are held Sundays at 10 a.m. There are some Sundays where classes are not held due to holidays or special events. The children come up to attend communion each Sunday with their family. Children & youth participating in worship is a priority at St. James’.
Mother Pilar integrates children at most worship services to show how even though they are young they are part of the family of Christ.
