The Rev. Alicia Dixon-Garrard will be the guest preacher at St. James on March 5 for all services.

Rev. Alicia Dixon is a pastor and church planter. She is a native New Yorker from Westchester County, and came to the Binghamton area to attend Binghamton University in 1993. Her first Master’s degree is in U.S. History focusing on African American History in the Postbellum Era.

Rev. Alicia received the call to ministry in 2006, and studied for the pastorate at Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, NY. She graduated from Northeastern in May 2020, with her Masters of Divinity degree, and was ordained in August 2020 in the American Baptist tradition at Memorial Park Baptist Church in Vestal, NY.

Currently, Rev. Alicia is a member of First Baptist Church of Ithaca. She also has started a new church in the Binghamton area- Community of Grace of the Southern Tier. Community of Grace is an intentionally diverse, equitable and inclusive church whose vision is to nurture, sustain, and cultivate wholeness through advocacy for racial and ethnic justice; family peace; and promotion of mental wellness.

Pastor Alicia feels called to shepherd God’s people, to teach God’s Word, and to facilitate healing among both the saved and unsaved. She is also passionate about serving the disenfranchised within our communities. Her life verse Jeremiah 29:11, inspires faithfulness to God’s call to service.

She has exercised her gifts of teaching and preaching cross denominationally in the pulpit, at women’s retreats, and leadership conferences. Alicia is enjoying her ministry journey with her husband of nineteen years Larry Garrard. They reside in Johnson City, New York. Some of her favorite things are a good cup of tea, reading, and spiritual retreats.
