St. James’ Adventure Book Club March Discussion
Woman of Light by Kali Fajardo-Anstine
Discussion: Sunday, March 19 at noon.
“Woman of Light” is an epic adventure spanning five generations of an indigenous chicano family in the American West. The main protagonists are living through the years of the Great Depression, but the author juxtaposes their stories with the stories of their ancestors. The author’s heritage is a nuanced blending of Pueblo Native Americans, Mexican, Filipino, and European ancestors. While the characters are fictional, the events referenced in the book are based on historical facts. Their stories are powerful and steeped in the history that has shaped our nation’s heritage.
